Ultralisk vs Thor

I've been wondering, who would win in a battle? The ultralisk or thor? Lately as Zerg, I've been getting quick Ultralisks, from the very beginning I just try to get ultralisks as fast as I can and usually (according to replay time) get my first 3 (I train 3 at a time usually) at around 9 minutes 13 seconds.

Although most of that doesn't matter, whenever I mass ultralisks, after a few bases have been taken out while my allies help for AA as I march through bases and tear them apart, I usually stumble across a bunch of Thors in most Terran bases. Usually (because of the help of my allies) I can defeat them without much hassle, but I've been wondering...

well, you have to take into consideration that the Thor is ranged, and might get a few shots off on the Ultra before it can attack him. So i think that it is more powerful.

Yeah, if you think about it... The Zerg isn't underpowered, because the fact that you can have more than 1 or 2, or even more than 9 training at once through the hatcheries.

So you are probably more likely to have more Ultralisks than they would have Thors.

Which brings up the valid point, thats why almost all zerg units are weaker than there terran or protoss counter-parts. because they can train a buttload of them at a time, unlike the others

It's the main reason I like Zerg, you can rebuild your army fast, you can change your army to counter the enemies fast too, just takes a few larva and a good Queen.

The problem isn't that any of the races are in and of themselves unbalanced, but rather the current melee maps all have ramp choke points. Not only do you have to squeeze your units through a tight space, but only the ones at the top have sight of what you're attacking. The ability to turtle is magnified under these conditions, while swarming units have reduced usefulness. Hopefully the next set of melee maps will mix up the terrain types somewhat.

I agree. Every map does have ramps that can cripple the attacking forces.
